"Register Online

To register online you will need to use a NY.Gov ID. If you have previously used a NY.Gov ID with another agency, you may use the same login to access the Online Voter Registration portal. If you have not used a NY.Gov ID you will need to create an account.

You can also use the Board of Elections’ Online Voter Registration portal to update your voter registration information. Updated information could include a new name, new address, or changing your party enrollment.

Completed applications are sent to the appropriate County Board of Elections for approval and processing.

You may register to vote using the New York State Voter Registration Form found at the links below. You can complete a PDF version of the New York State Voter Registration Form on-line by clicking on the link below, typing the necessary information and selecting the appropriate boxes. Alternatively, you can print the form to complete by hand.

Once the form is completed, you need to print the form and sign it. We cannot accept any kind of digital or Adobe-generated signature. Then, mail the form to your local county board of elections.

Returning Your Form

Change of Party Enrollment

Forms RECEIVED at your local board of elections up to and including February 14th will be accepted and processed. If you submit your party change online through DMV the deadline is midnight February 13th for electronic delivery on the 14th.

Changes received on or after February 15th until seven days after the June primary will be set aside and opened the seventh day following the June primary and entered in the voter’s registration record.

The qualifications for voting in New York State are as follows:

•     Be a U. S. citizen
•     Be 18 years old (you may preregister at 16 or 17 but cannot vote until 18)
•     Not be in prison for a felony conviction
•     Not claim the right to vote elsewhere
•     Not found to be incompetent by a court

How to Register or Update Your Voter Record

Download a PDF copy and submit it at the Board of Elections Office or by mail to register or update any information that has changed.

You may also register or update online at the MYDMV website.  www.dmv.ny.gov
